[TBD] Sony Patents New Gaming Interface
Posted by Ashish on 07.20.2006

The Japanese website Tech-On! reports that Sony has patented a Wii-like motion-sensing interface.

According to the patent, the technology would read three dimensional position and direction information for an input device using a single two dimensional camera. The patent does state that the technology could be used to control action in a videogame. The big advancement with the technology is that it can process 3D information with the use of just a single camera, not two.

The image above was included with the patent. The technology may end up being used somehow with the PlayStation 3.
